HAIR AND MAKEUP
While it may seem a little alarming to be asking parents to put makeup on their young children, there is a valid reason, and makeup is an integral part of a stage performance.
Stage lights are very bright and while it is always optional to wear makeup, you will notice that stage lights really do wash out performers faces. So, the makeup is simply to make features such as the eyes and smiles stand out.
We have included a guidance sheet (click link below), but please know that if you are not comfortable putting makeup on your dancer, or they are allergic to it, that’s fine.
Male dancers in our recreational program do not need to wear makeup, but as for the girls, it is an option. Male dancers in the Performance Program should wear stage makeup.
We have found that the best way to apply makeup to young children is to apply it while they lay on the floor.
