Hello everyone,
First of all, I would like to thank you all for your wonderful feedback. Hearing your thoughts about the year coming has helped me create a plan that I think will work for everyone. Please review and then confirm that you will be returning to our competition team. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
The plan for the year has two goals:
1) You do not lose out on the financial investments you made into the competition from the 2019-2020 season. All money that you put into competitions will be used.
2) We will do our best to not have you make further investments unless we feel sure that they will be put to use this season.
Here is how that is going to look:
August: One technical class a week from August 4-August 28 I know many dancers will be out of town for their staycations during August. These classes will be dedicated to getting the dancers back in the studio and technically/physically at the competition level again. We will not be rehearsing their Spring pieces during this month although I will have all the dancers run their pieces once during the month so I can see where the dancers are in remembering the dances.
September: One technical class a week starting September 13. If the October competitions are still scheduled to go ahead then during this class, the students will be pulled out of their technical classes to run short rehearsals of their pieces at no extra cost.
October: Same as September.
November: Once the two Fall competitions are over then we will look at where we are with the Alert Levels. I will then send out the question to the parents on whether they would like to add new pieces to their Spring competition season or only compete their previous pieces. We will then begin any new pieces in November. Please note: two of the four spring competitions are returns of the Fall competitions (thus we are doing Dance Quest and Wanna Dance twice this season). These competitions cannot have repeated pieces at both competitions. If the dancers would like to participate in these competitions they will need to do new pieces. Elite and the View Dance Challenge can use the pieces from the 2019-2020 season.
I hope by breaking up the Fall in this way we can make sure that we do not jump the gun on creating new pieces for competitions that may not happen.
Please confirm by Thursday, July 30 if you plan on continuing this year.
Thank you everyone,
Alicia Hartley
